On the Job Training (OJT)

Aim of OJT

Training helps the student to improve performance at work place. Also it adds more diversified experience and abilities while enriching the self- acquired proficiencies of the students. Training helps to minimize the margin of errors at workplace and most importantly cuts short on the period of time consumed in completing the work. On the Job Training (O.J.T.) means a training that occurs in a work place. The student has to undergo O.J.T. for about 8 weeks (at least 300 hours) at exiting level. All students must complete O.J.T.  as a requirement  for graduation with any of Diploma, Advanced  Diploma/ Bachelor .

General Procedure followed for OJT

Following are the different phases an O.J.T. student should go through:

  • The student should first meet the O.J.T. coordinator of the Department to know the name, location and other details of the company in which their training will take place.
  • Subsequently the student is assigned a company by the OJT coordinator, and a Log Book is provided to him/her. The O.J.T. coordinator briefs the student about the procedures to be followed while filling the Logbook.
  • The student approaches the company according to the oral/ written agreement between the company and the O.J.T. coordinator of the Department. If needed, a letter of recommendation can be provided by the Department to the company.
  •  In the company, a supervisor is assigned for the student who will brief the student about the nature of work, training schedule, timings, etc.
  •  A college assessor is assigned for each student by the O.J.T. coordinator.
  • Students are assessed by the College Assessor and the O.J.T. supervisor in the workplace.
  • At the end of O.J.T., the student should submit the Logbook and the  assessor  informs  about  the  completion  of  O.J.T,  to the  department  OJT.

Role of advisor is very important in OJT. Given below are some of the guidelines.


Guideline for the Advisors for sending names of OJT Students

  • Forwarding the names of students taking OJT for the current semester.
  • All bachelor students and the students exiting a level for not having sufficient CGPA or TOFEL scores to move to next level will go for OJT.
  • Students remaining with one or two courses can also go for OJT after signing an undertaking.
  • It is very important that all advisors must forwards the names of students going for OJT for following up the students not registering for OJT. Students who are in OJT and don’t report is a major area of concern.
  • Diploma and Higher diploma students exiting voluntarily from the level need to sign an Undertaking with their Advisors prior to OJT Registration. A copy of the same should be attached along with the OJT Registration form.
  • All students while registering needs to be verified by their respective  advisors.  
  • Advisors must ensure before signing the forms that students have filled all information correct and have done the needful mentioned in the form. Please ensure the student must mention correctly the remaining courses.
  • Students must submit the hard copies of their national I.Ds and the softcopies of their CVs.to the mentioned email ids.


General Guidelines for Students

  • The students need to fill up an online registration form to register for OJT.
  • The link is available in their E learning.
  • The students going for OJT should provide correct contact number and fill up all information mentioned in the form.
  •  If the student approaches any company on his/her own (Self), they should start their OJT within 15days of registration. Otherwise they need to join the company which is allotted by OJT Team/ College.
  • The student should first meet the O.J.T. coordinator of the Department to know the name, location and other details of the company in which their training will take place.
  • Subsequently the student is assigned a company by the OJT coordinator, and a Log Book is provided to him/her. The O.J.T. coordinator briefs the student about the procedures to be followed while filling the Logbook. (Explain the requirements of Log Book)
  • In the company, a supervisor is assigned for the student who will brief the student about the nature of work, training schedule, timings, etc.
  • A college assessor is assigned for each student by the O.J.T. coordinator. Students have to inform their respective college assessor and OJT team about the date of starting of their training.
  • Within 15 days after completion of O.J.T., the student should submit the Logbook and the  assessor  informs  about  the  completion  of  O.J.T,  to the  department  OJT.
