1. Successful Conductance of Final OJT Presentations May 2010

Dr. Bassem El Menshawi, the Departmental OJT Coordinator and College Assessor has put forward all his efforts and dedications to achieve the successful completion of OJT for 13 students in many different places of Pharmacy specialization. 1st and 2nd May 2010 were the days of final OJT Presentations. He invited all the corresponding OJT Supervisors for the students. Many of them attended the presentations and shared in the scientific discussions and gave their valuable suggestions. Meanwhile the students informed about their problems, suggestions, advantages etc. during their presentations.
With the vote of thanks, a delicious lunch and some refreshment were arranged for the guest, staff and students for this occasion.
2. Pharmacy Staff Welcomes The New Assistant Lecturer in Pharmaceutical Microbiology
Ms. Khansa al Hashmi joined the department as an Assistant Lecturer in Pharmaceutical Microbilogy. She completed her Master Degree in the specialization -Microbiology. All staff of the department welcomed her for joining the department and wish her good luck.
3. Oman Pharmaceutical Society holds its General Assembly Board Meeting at HCT
Oman Pharmaceutical Society arranged its General Assembly Board meeting at HCT on 4th of June 2009. More than 50 participants from the various health sectors were present during the Meeting. The General Secretary of the society presented the annual report whereas the treasurer presented the financial report of the society for the current year.This was approved by the Chairman of the Society.Excellent Guest lectuer was delivered by Dr Naser Al Sharif , who came from USA , on the topic '' Medication Errors and Pharmacist's Role" followed by general discussion. Prof. Qasim Al Riyami , Chairman of the Society, thanked and appreciated the HCT Dean and his team for allowing the event to take place at HCT. He also encouraged the efforts taken by Dr. Bassem and Pharmacy staff for the event. Finally, the conference ended with the vote of thank given by the Chairman of the Society , Prof. Qasim Riyami.Delicious Lunch was arranged by the Society for all the participants. All the staff and students from pharmacy department attended the conference.
4. Mohammad Yahya and Dr Nagwa Present their Research Papers at the Muscat Pharmaceutical Conference
Dr Nagwa presented a research article in the Muscat pharmaceutical conference . Similarly, Mohammad Yahya also presented a research article in the same conference.
5. Pharmacy Staff attend the Muscat Pharmaceutical Conference
Muscat Pharmaceutical Conference was organised by the Oman Medical College on 22-23rd of April 2009. The theme of this conference was Patient Centered Pharmaceutical Care. Dr. S.K. Sridhar, HoD , Pharmacy Dept. chaired a scientific session in the conference. Mrs. BC. Neetu, Dr Nagwa, Mohammad Yahya, Hisham Amjad, Ms. Muna and Ms. Aireen were also present in the conference. Internationally renowned in Pharmaceutical field speakers delivered their lectures during the various sessions of the conference.
6. Successful Conduction of OJT Training Presentations
Dr Bassem El Menshawi, OJT Coordinator for Pharmacy Dept., has put his excellent efforts and experiences forward to make this occasion the highly successful event. He coordinated with all the OJT supervisors to share in this scientific discussion.OJT Supervisors from Nahdha Hospital, Boushar Polyclinic, Muscat Pharmacy, Muscat Pharmacy Medical store, Scientific Pharmacy were present during this scientific meeting. Dr Ashraf, Manager of the Scientific Pharmacy was also present during this occasion. It was the highly fruitful meeting and discussion as the students discussed their problems , suggestion and their achievement with these industry personalities. The guests assured them all the possible help and enhancement in their positive role in future. With the vote of thank given by Dr. SK Sridhar, HoD - Pharmacy Dept and Dr. Bassem El Menshawi, OJT Coordinator, the meeting ended. The refreshment was arranged for the guests and on going graduating students. All staff appreciated the efforts of Dr Bassem for the event.
7. Oman Pharmaceutical Society Arranges Scientific Conference at HCT
Oman Pharmaceutical Society arranged its first annual pharmaceutical scientific conference at HCT on 16th of April 2009. More than 100 participants from the various health sectors were present during the conference. Dr. Obaid, Dean, HCT, was also present during the conference and appreciated the occasion held at HCT. He also encouraged the efforts taken by Dr S K Sridhar, Dr Bassem and Pharmacy staff for the conference. Finally the conference ended with the vote of thank given by the Chairman of the society , Prof. Qasim Riyami. All the staff and students from Pharmacy Department attended the conference.
8. Guest Lecture Delivered on 07th April 2009
Department arranged a guest lecture delivered by Dr. Abdul Salam Nazmi, Asst.Professor of Pharmacology, Dept. of Pharmacy,Oman Medical College.The topic of lecture was ''From the Chemical to a Medicine (Clinical Trails)''. Staff and students were benefited by the lecture.
9. Students Visit the National Pharmaceutical Industry,Sultanate of Oman
Students of the September 2007 and 2008 batch visited the National Pharmaceutical Industry on Monday,16th March 2009. Students were shown the various departments in the Industry starting from the raw material till the finished products. They observed the tablet and liquid manufacturing processes. Mr Sherif , the Assistant Production Manager welcomed the students and gave them a brief introduction about the manufacturing of tablet. The students also visited to the quality control and product development department of the Industry with a brief introduction given by the supervisor of this department. Teaching staff Mrs. B.C.Neetu , Mr.Mohammad Yaheya and Mr.Hisham Abdul Razzak had accompanied the students. Finally the students and staff gave the vote of thanks to the staff of the industry. Students were found enthusiastic during the visit.
10. HoD Delivers the Quality Assurance Awareness Lectures
Quality Assurance Awareness lectures are being delivered by the HoD to the staff members. The mission, goals and objectives were explained with respect to the HCT Quality Audit Portfolio.The staff is motivated towards achieving these goals.
11. Students Qualify MoH License Exam
Graduated students of Jan 2009 session qualified the written exam conducted by the Ministry of Health, Sultanate of Oman for the license. This license is required to practice the profession of Pharmacy in the country. Mr. Ahmed Al Shibli qualified the written exam followed by the oral exam. Pharmacy Department wishes all of them goodluck and success in their life.
12. New Staff for Pharmacology Courses
Mr. Ramkumar has joined the dept. as a Pharmacology Lecturer.

13. Graduating Students Delivered OJT Presentations
The Final Semester graduating students have delivered their final OJT presentations. Dr .Bassem El Menshawi , OJT Coordinator, on behalf of Pharmacy Dept. has invited all the OJT Supervisors on this occasion. We thank Dr. Bassem for his valuable efforts for making the event successful.
