Business Department of University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) is committed towards the development of the nation by imparting quality education to the young generation. The department focuses on graduating students with practical exposure that will help them to become effective professionals. Business Studies department believes that industry interaction is a basic necessity for the overall development of every student. To give the practical exposure to the students the university has included a mandatory requirement of industry academia interaction in the form of OJT and guest lectures.
In view of the above, a guest lecture was organized with the support of Student Affairs Department. The Professionals from ASSAS Group, Mr. Mahmood Marhoon Al Jabri (Recruitment and HR Services Specialist) and Mr. Aldheeb Nasser Al Alawi delivered a lecture during the orientation. Mr. Mahmood highlighted the importance of employability skills for fresh graduate students. His presentation covered the areas for preparing the students for the Job market, like preparing an effective CV, Job Portals for effective job search in Oman, the significant interview skills required. The session was followed by an interactive discussion session that enlightened students for future interviews.
Every semester Business studies department organizes an orientation for graduating students to explain the purpose of OJT and procedure to be followed during the training. After the guest lecture, the OJT Team of Business Studies department explained the OJT procedure to the students and clarified their queries regarding OJT. At the end of the session the students thanked the guest speakers and OJT team for their support to enhance their knowledge with a formal vote of thanks. The students understood how to apply theoretical concepts in practice. The speakers were felicitated with certificates by Business Studies Department.
