Business Studies – Accounting Section organized a site visit to Ministry of Finance – Tax Department for the students of taxation accounting on 12th March 2018. 36 students were accompanied by the course tutor Ms. Sameena Begum.
The main objective of this visit is to give an insight of taxation rules in Sultanate of Oman. The visit started with a presentation by Mr. Mahmoud Hamad Hamdan Al Rabb’ani (Director of Taxpayer’s service) with a brief introduction to tax rules and tax structure in Oman. He enlightened students with the assessment and filing of tax returns for companies, followed by question and answer session where student got clarity over different rules.
Later to the presentation students were allowed to visit the Directorate General of Investigation & Assessment and Directorate of collection department. Mr. Mahmoud proposed a workshop at HCT for all the accounting students and also intent to provide a training session to enhance their technical skills. The purpose of visit was successfully achieved on the basis of positive feedback from students as they found it very interesting and informative.
