30 April 2018

The library organized ProQuest training program for teaching staff to create more awareness about ProQuest Central and Technology Collection on 19th April 2018 from 10.00 am to 12.00 noon at SAC (Old building).

Mr. Anas Obaid, Training and Consulting Partner, ProQuest, was the resource speaker of the program. 25 staff attended the program. Mr. Anas Obaid gave brief introduction about ProQuest, its resources and subject coverage. It has also been shown how to access the ProQuest both inside and outside the campus.

His online demo part was designed to understand the features and capabilities of ProQuest in detail particularly how to search this online e-journals database by using various options available in ProQuest. Basic search, advanced level search, publication, browse and database are important features. Advanced level search has many options to perform effective search. The users can frame their query based on their need by using these options. Furthermore, he explained how to narrow down the search to get the information we are actually looking for.

His presentation also comprised various additional features such as my research, alert service, sharing the searched resources with peers, saving the query for future search and saving search results. Mr. Obaid was interactive with all participants to make the session lively and answered the questions asked by the staff. In general, the session was educational and useful to use the ProQuest very effectively and efficiently. Dr. H. Kalilur Rahman, Librarian, thanked Mr. Anas Obaid for giving a well-organized and informative presentation. It has been further assured that the library is always ready to help the staff, if they need any help in using the ProQuest
