A policy management workshop was conducted at the Department of Applied Sciences by Dr. Sindhu Menon for all the staff of the department in this AY 2016-17 on 21-12-2016 in two sessions from 10 am to 11-15 am in the seminar room (M-316) of the department.

On behalf of Dr. Mohammed Ali Oueslati, Head of the Department of Applied Sciences and Dr.Afraa Said Al-Adawi, the HoS of Applied Biology, Dr.Wafa Mustafa Al Lawati, HoS of Applied Chemistry, Dr.Mohammed Shafiq Ahmed, HoU of the Physics Unit and Dr. Suad Al Kindi, the HoS of Environmental section an invitation and greetings are conveyed to all the staff by Dr. C. Rama Chandra Prabhu, Head of the staff development committee of the department. He had also formally introduced the speaker to the audience.

Dr. Sindhu had listed the various policies of HCT and explained their importance by a brief overview on policy management system established at the HCT. She had briefed on the gist of every policy and appealed to the audience to go through each and every policy and acknowledge them in the system. She had brought to the notice of all the staff that the policies can be reviewed by them and their suggestions will be discussed in a central review meeting and depending on the merit of point raised by the staff the policies may also be modified. She had also brought to the notice of the audience that the future initiatives of the policy management committee is to summarize each and every policy as power points, incorporate some quiz questions at the end of every policy for increasing the interest of the readers and also provide all the forms mentioned in every policy at the end of that policy as appendixes.

Dr.Sindhu had also mentioned about the contents of the new policies like research, environmental and intellectual property rights. Each session had a very lively question and answer session, where many of the staff participated.

A token of appreciation was given to Dr. Sindhu Menon by Dr. Mohammed Ali Oueslati, Head of the Department of Applied Sciences.

The event met all its objectives and it was conducted in accordance with the Goal-1 of strategic plan of HCT which states that “We will provide excellent governance and administration with transparency and adherence to ethical principles.” The event was a regular yearly event at the department of applied sciences and is facilitated by Dr. C. Rama Chandra Prabhu, Head of the staff development committee of the department and vote of thanks was proposed by him at the end of the event.
