Toolbox Talks for Applied Sciences Laboratories Conducted

21 December 2016

The Applied Sciences Department’s health, safety and environment (HSE) committee recently conducted toolbox talks for its laboratory staff between 04-21 December 2016. Toolbox talks are designed to ensure that staff are participating and implementing safety activities, and at the same time have an opportunity to engage and discuss HSE-related issues in the laboratories in particular and the department in general. Toolbox talks is one medium and one of the programs by the HSE committee in the Applied Sciences department that increases HSE awareness and get staff motivated, and actively involved.

Further, the activity also sets the tone for a more comprehensive risk assessment activity that has already started for the laboratories. The main aim of risk assessment is to come up with a comprehensive list of hazards and risks that will be eventually listed and compiled in the risk register of the department and the College Risk, Health and Safety (RHS) committee register.
