Fifteen students from the Environmental Sciences Section, Department of Applied Sciences, have participated in the World Habitat Day celebration organized by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs (MECA), the event was held in Al Bat’ha region in AlSwaiq on October 7th, 2019.
The event’s program included many lecturers about the Omani’s unique habitats; the importance of wildlife conservation, bird’s wild life, environmental inspection and protection in addition to explaining the procedures for getting permits for utilization the habitat resources. It also included a field trip around the area and contests among the students from different colleges and schools.
At the end of the event, the students and supervisors received certificates of participation and a trophy for the environmental section.
It’s worth mentioning that the world habitat day is celebrated on the first Monday of October every year, and this year it happened to be on 7th of October. MECA has published the event in their social media accounts.
