The Department offers a number of electives in Applied Biology and Applied Chemistry specializations. For example, electives offered in Applied Chemistry include; Analytical Chemistry III, Environmental Chemistry and Petroleum and Petrochemicals. Electives offered in Applied Biology include; Zoology, Food Analysis and Ecology.
After completion of the course requirements, students in the Applied Biology and Applied Chemistry specializations undergo further training schemes:
Goals
1. Enhancement/Practical Training (E/PT) scheme that runs for 6-12 weeks in the Department of Applied Sciences to successfully graduate students at the Certificate level.
2. On-the-Job Training (OJT) scheme that runs for 8 weeks and is carried out in a real workplace environment to successfully graduate students at Diploma, Higher Diploma and Degree levels.
A credit hour system is used in Applied Sciences, Applied Chemistry and Applied Biology Specializations.
