The Applied Biology specilization is composed of courses that focus on a broad understanding of biological principles underlying all living systems, coupled with practical application and training. The program provides the students with the opportunity to study basic and advanced biological concepts and principles in various courses which include Cell Biology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Plant Sciences, Food Microbiology and Plant Biotechnology that are aligned to the practical application in industries and allied sectors.
Lastly, the program may also serve as a feeder to an existing graduate program (Master of Science in Biology) in colleges or universities in the gulf region and in other countries.

The Applied Chemistry specilization covers basic and advanced courses in Chemistry and allied disciplines which provide a strong foundation in general, analytical, inorganic, organic, industrial, and physical chemistry combined with biochemical, pharmaceutical, and environmental concepts. The theoretical knowledge is enhanced through hands-on application in the form of practical activities, training in the laboratories, project research and on-the job training in the final year of the students.

The Environmental Sciences specilization shows a balanced treatment of all branches of Environmental Science with the inclusion of recent advances and current topics in the different courses of the program. The program provides an in-depth understanding of the basic principles and concepts governing Environmental Sciences. The curriculum extends the students’ knowledge and understanding of the critical assessment of current views and theories to the study of selected areas of the Environmental Sciences. It also improves the performance of the student’s basic environmental sciences techniques in either a laboratory or fieldwork research setting. The program provides the graduates with a strong sense of concern for the environment.
