The general staff meeting at the Department of Applied Sciences was conducted at the Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH) of HCT on 06-12-2018 between 1 pm to 3 pm with a clear cut agenda sent to every staff member through an e-mail from the Former-HoD on 04-12-2018. The Former HoD addressed the gathering and presented a brief progress report of the department. Dr. Pankaj Sah, Mr. Shabir Ahmed Nadeem and Dr. Suad Al Kindi shared the dais along with the former HoD.
This general staff meeting was very successful and it helped to create a positive interaction between the staff and the administration. It also paved way for healthy discussions on the best practices to be followed among the staff. The Former HoD expressed his profound gratitude to all the departmental staff and stated that Department of Applied Sciences was rated as number one in terms of research as evinced through the outstanding achievement shown by, Dr Mohamed Fawaz Silwadi, lecturer of Applied Chemistry by procuring 3 Faculty Mentored Undergraduate Research Award Projects (FURAP) and Dr. Wafa Aqib Nasir Al-Rawahi, lecturer of Applied Chemistry winning 1 project in the present academic year (2018-2019) out of the total 5 projects warded by TRC to HCT. He congratulated Dr. Mohamed Fawaz Silwadi and Dr. Wafa Aqib Nasir Al-Rawahi for this laudable achievement and thanked all the active researchers at the department for promoting research. It’s noteworthy to mention that both faculty members are from Applied Chemistry section.

The departmental meeting was different from the routine information transmission type of meetings and paved way for a positive relationship building between the administration of the department and the staff. The Former HoD told that the sizable number of students who were graduated in the recent graduation ceremony vouch for the effectiveness of the teaching-learning process at the department, for which there was a big round of applause from the staff.

At the end of the meeting there was a good question and answer session, in which there was a fruitful sharing of ideas on good practices that are to be followed during the examinations and general conduct and behavior expected out of the staff.

On behalf of the staff development committee Dr. C. Rama Chandra Prabhu, Head of Staff Development Committee welcomed the staff and also proposed a vote of thanks. He had also acted as the moderator for the discussions during the questions and answers session.
The Former- HoD thanked all the departmental co-ordinators and the departmental council for making the department a very congenial work place. He thanked all the Heads of the sections and Heads of the Units and Committees for the phenomenal growth of the department in all spheres.
This activity was conducted by the Department of Applied Sciences for sustaining a clear communication system between staff and administration in accordance with the partial requirements of the strategic plan Goal-1: “We will provide excellent governance and administration with transparency and adherence to ethical principles”
