Staff Activities
“Execution is the ability to mesh strategy with reality, align people with goals, and achieve the promised results." as told by Mr. Lawrence Bossidy. At the Department of Applied Sciences the strategy for smooth implementation of the advising for the semester-2 of academic year 2017-18 was started well in advance with a session on up-dating the information on the rules for the advising and registration by the departmental registrar, Ms. Geetha Pradeep on 7th December 2017 in room number M-204 (Physics Laboratory) from 12 noon to 1 pm. In compliance to succession policy adopted by HCT for all the pivotal academic and administrative positions, the departmental council of applied sciences department encouraged Dr.Chhavi Singh, (a nominated member by the DC to the advising committee) to also take an active role in this presentation.
Mrs. Geetha enthusiastically explained the recent developments in withdrawal of courses, mixing of students between different levels and on the specific check points that have to be undertaken by the academic advisors, like, manual calculation of CGPA, reporting of marginal cases, checking of the levels on CIMS, consideration of repetition of courses for improving CGPA and caution to be exercised while advising by considering the failed courses after the announcement of results. As usual, she had appealed to all the advisors to promptly report the control room regarding the registration and advising issues like attendance monitoring, course withdrawals, CGPA calculations and course codes for pre and co-requisites.
Mrs. Geetha Pradeep was very successful in answering all the questions raised by various advisors. There was some lively discussion on the questions raised by the participants with a good involvement by all the participants highlighting the recent additions and deletions to the rules on advising, which fulfilled the main objective of the workshop. Dr.Chhavi Singh, an active member of the Advising and Registration committee assisted Ms. Geetha and answered many queries raised by the participants.
Mrs. Geetha expressed her profound thanks to Dr. Mohammed Ali Oueslati, Head of the Department of Applied Sciences, all the Heads of sections/Unit and all the other departmental colleagues for their active support and co-operation. The event was facilitated by the Staff development committee. The introduction of the speaker and vote of thanks are proposed by the head of staff development committee Dr. C. Rama Chandra Prabhu.
