Engineering HSE Seminar: “Integrating the Issue of Climate Change in the Culture of Health, Safety and Environment”

On 12th May 2016, the Health and Safety Committee of the Engineering Department, facilitated the seminar entitled, “Integrating the Issue of Climate Change in the Culture of Health, Safety and Environment”. The event was held at the Multi-purpose Hall and it was participated by all engineering staff. The speaker in the seminar was Mr. Michael Angelo Medina, had his training as a climate reality leader for the Climate Reality Project in Toronto, Canada last July 2015.  Mr. Medina was also a trainor/mentor in the reality leadership training corps conducted by the former US Vice President Al Gore in the Philippines last March 2016 and he had been going to many other institutions per invitation to present the issue of climate change here in Oman and abroad.

The seminar is part of the Engineering Health and Safety Committee’s active information campaign to increase the awareness of engineering staff in the HSE risks involved in everyday activities inside and outside the Campus. The goal of this seminar is to relate the workplace risks with environment issues such as climate change.
