Lecture on “Genetic Algorithm and its Applications”

13 March 2019

Dr. P. V. Rajendra Sethupathi, a faculty in Mechanical & Industrial Engineering Section of Department of Engineering delivered a lecture on “Genetic Algorithm and its Applications” for the academic staff of the section on Thursday, 7th March 2019.

The genetic algorithm is a widely used probabilistic search algorithm that iteratively transforms a set (called a population) of mathematical objects, each with an associated fitness value, into a new population of offspring objects using the Darwinian principle of natural selection and naturally occurring genetic operations, such as crossover and mutation.

The inspiring lecture was well attended and appreciated by all faculty of the section.
