As part of BAE Systems’ ongoing education programme in Oman, young engineers Laura Hoang and Michael Morgan presented to students at The Higher College of Technology, Muscat on March 2, 2016, captioned as “Sharing Knowledge On Careers In Engineering”, giving the students glimpse of their career path and highlighting how having a carefully thought out plan can make a huge difference to their future career.
The Higher College of Technology- Engineering Department in conjunction with the Occupational Standard and Testing Centre OSTC-Ministry of Manpower, were keen to utilize the cooperation with BAE to conduct such activity for post foundation students. This will benefit the engineering prospected students to ensure their specialization selections, as Dr. Mohammad Al-Najjar –Director of OSTC commented.
The second presentation was conducted by Ms. Amelita Abriol, the Registrar of Electrical & Electronics section. The presentation was about the guidelines for Foundation students who are expected to join the Engineering Department upon completion of their foundation level. It introduced to the students the various specializations, and how it is allocated. It also presented to the students the basic information about the markings on courses, college bylaws for moving to the next level, probations, dismissal and postponement. It also emphasized the importance of the Academic Advisor and the students' awareness of the basic rules and policies of the department and the college. In conclusion, Q & A session was held for students to clarify their doubts.
