The Pharmacy Department conducted an awareness session on ‘‘Genetic Blood Disorders Awareness week” on 24.10.2017. The event was organized and supervised by Ms. Iman Mubarak Al-Balushi (Lecturer). The event was held in the entrance of the Old building.

The objective of the event is to raise awareness among HCT staff and students about genetic blood disorders and methods to reduce the transmission of these disorders through generations. The Pharmacy department students were explaining to the visitors about Blood tissue, Genetic blood disorders prevalent in Oman (Thalassemia, Sickle cell anemia, G6PD deficiency, etc.), Statistics of Genetic blood disorders in Oman, Pre-marriage medical examinations and Nutrition & Health. An assessment questionnaire pertaining to assessment of genetic blood disorders among HCT population was also collected.
