EIU conducted "Best Innovative Business Idea Competition"

The Innovative Business Idea Competition was conducted by the EIU - Education Unit to encourage Entrepreneurship course students of the summer semester to come up with innovative new products, services, and technologies which can become a foundation for new businesses.

The whole event was conducted in 2 rounds. The first round received 16 entries out which 5 ideas were shortlisted. This shortlisted student’s team then had to make a presentation in the front of panel which included:

  • Mr. Ammar Al Kharusi: Innovation Specialist, Freelancer
  • Mr. Salim Al Siyabi: Innovation Specialist, Freelancer
  • Dr. Manal Al Khanbashi: Innovation Leader, EIU and Lecturer, Applied Science, HCT

The final event took place on 25th June 2018 in BS056 from 2.30 pm, Business Department Building. After a thorough evaluation the panel chose 2 ideas which were been declared as the winners. The winning ideas are as follows:

The 1st place was taken by Omar Sulaiman Al Hinnai & Group from section no. 8. These students under the tutelage of Ms. Samira Al Mammari had come up with an innovative idea of solving the transportation and parking problem for the college students through an application.

The 2nd place was taken by Safa Rashid Al Mammari & Group, also belonging to section no. 8. Their idea was again an application which is would reminder for food validity and expiry.

The Innovation Unit, EIU will be taking charge of all the ideas and will be mentoring the student groups in converting these ideas to viable business opportunities.

Kudos to all the teams who participated in the event. Thanks to all the Entrepreneurship course teachers to encourage the students to participate. EIU Unit look forward for such support all throughout.
