Risk, Health and Safety
A series of re-trainings were conducted for first aid responders and warden groups comprised of Applied Sciences and Pharmacy staff in M316/M320 rooms and APS-PH parking lot respectively. The re-trainings were done last 13, 17 - 19 December 2018 to accommodate a large number of first aid responders and warden groups. These activities were done to gauge and improve the needed skills as a first aid responder and warden that will be useful during an emergency situation.
During the re-training for first aid responders, the concepts of cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillation (AED) and cases observed in the College such as epileptic convulsions and nose bleeds were discussed. Afterwards, there was an individual hands-on practice on CPR with AED for all first aid responders.
The latter part of the re-training saw the warden group being re-oriented with the use of fire extinguishers. All wardens individually demonstrated the proper handling of a fire extinguisher.
The re-training was organized through the college and department RHS committees and provided by Mr. Mike Medina, RHS Officer.
